Khloé Kardashian on Starting Small and Staying Consistent

We all have to start somewhere and doing something is better than nothing at all.

Start small so you don’t get discouraged and give up. Remember it is all about consistency.

There are no quick fixes if you want long-term results.

Khloé Kardashian

The hardest workout for most people is the first one.

Khloé Kardashian’s advice for that moment is refreshingly plain: start small and keep going.

Who Khloé Kardashian Is

Khloé Kardashian became widely known through “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the E! reality series that began in 2007.

The show ran for 20 seasons before ending in 2021.

Her family later moved to a new series, “The Kardashians,” on Hulu.

Over the years, fitness became a regular part of how she talks about her own life.

In 2015 she published “Strong Looks Better Naked,” a book about her approach to fitness and confidence.

Where This Quote Comes From

Bustle quoted this advice from Kardashian in an April 2015 article about her views on fitness and body image.

The article placed it under the heading “On Getting Started.”

A shorter version, without the last sentence, also appears on her BrainyQuote page.

You may have seen a different line credited to her as well.

It reads, “Fitness is not about being better than someone else. It’s about being better than you used to be.”

Researcher Barry Popik traced that saying to a November 2012 tweet by trainer Brett Hoebel.

Popik also notes it echoes an older line about nobility from author Wayne Dyer.

Kardashian shared the fitness version on Instagram in 2015, but it did not start with her.

That is why this article focuses on her own words about getting started.

What the Advice Really Says

The quote makes three simple points, and each one holds up well.

First, any start counts.

A ten minute walk is not a failure because it is not an hour at the gym. It is a start.

Second, small beats big when you are new.

Read one way, “so you don’t get discouraged” is the key phrase in the whole quote.

A plan that feels too hard on day three is the plan most people quit on day four.

Third, consistency does the heavy lifting.

One great week does less than many ordinary weeks stacked together.

Her last line, about quick fixes, ties it together.

If the goal is lasting change, the method has to be something you can repeat for a long time.

How to Start Small This Week

Pick one activity you can do almost anywhere, like walking, bodyweight squats or a short stretching routine.

Choose a starting amount that feels a little too easy on purpose.

Easy is fine at this stage, because the real goal is repetition.

For many people, that might be ten minutes, three days this week.

Put those three sessions on your calendar with a time attached.

When a session is done, mark it off where you can see it.

That visible streak is a simple way to reward consistency instead of intensity.

After two weeks of hitting your plan, add a little.

You might add five minutes, add one more day, or add a second exercise.

Only grow the plan when the current version feels steady.

If you miss a day, skip the guilt and simply do the next session on the list.

Starting small also means not comparing your first month to someone else’s fifth year.

Your only job early on is to show up often enough that the habit sticks.

It can help to plan for your usual obstacles ahead of time.

If evenings get busy, try a short session before work. If mornings are rushed, try a walk at lunch.

A backup plan for rainy days, like a short routine in your living room, keeps the streak alive.

Over time, those small sessions build the base that bigger goals need.

A Small Start Still Counts

Kardashian’s advice works because it removes the pressure to be impressive on day one.

Start with something doable, repeat it, and let consistency carry you from there.
